Booking a private yacht in Cancun comes down to four decisions: your group size, charter duration, preferred route and confirmation model. Before paying, compare the total charter price, deposit due today, included guests, marina fees and exact inclusions for that yacht.
Two boats of similar size may have different capacities, marinas, deposits, dock fees and onboard equipment. One may suit a family that needs shade and bathrooms. Another may work better for a birthday group that wants open deck space and music. This guide explains what to compare before paying a deposit.

Booking speed can also be part of the comparison. Some yachts support Instant Booking, while others use Confirmation within 12 hours. You can prefer Instant Booking, require it, or compare all eligible yachts when the vessel itself matters more than immediate confirmation.
Once the trip details are selected, matched yachts show the charter total for that duration in MXN and the reservation deposit separately. That distinction matters: the amount required today is not necessarily the full cost of the charter. Currency estimates in USD, EUR, GBP and CAD are reference values only; checkout remains in MXN.
Choose privacy when control of the day matters.
A shared catamaran or group tour can be a sensible option for one or two travellers who want a fixed route at a lower individual price. The departure time, music, stops and return are decided by the operator.
A private charter suits groups that want to stay together and set their own pace. The route is discussed in advance, although the captain still has final authority over safety and sea conditions. Your group decides whether the priority is swimming, photos, Playa Norte, a celebration or simply time on deck.
Privacy is especially useful for families with children, couples celebrating an occasion and groups that want to control the music, food and amount of time spent at anchor.

A 45ft motor yacht can be the right answer when the group fits comfortably and the route is straightforward.
Compare usable deck areas, shade, bathrooms and included guests before comparing length.
Match the vessel to the group, not to the photograph.
Larger yachts add cabins, bathrooms and social areas, but also change the rate, marina and boarding details.
Compact motor yachts. ATM 45ft is a Sea Ray for up to 15 guests, with two cabins, one bathroom and departures from Marina Punta Nizuc. It works well for a private half day when the group wants simple pricing and a comfortable motor yacht.
Social flybridge yachts. Sea Monkey 50ft includes up to 18 guests in the base rate and can take up to 22, subject to extra guest charges and operational confirmation. Its flybridge, bow area and shaded aft lounge suit larger families and celebration groups.
Larger luxury yachts. Addicted 70ft includes up to 15 guests and can take up to 20. It has three cabins, three bathrooms, a flybridge and several indoor and outdoor areas. The extra space is useful for groups that will spend six or eight hours aboard.
Catamarans. Fixer 45ft includes 15 guests and can take up to 17. Its wide platform gives the group more shared deck space and it offers overnight use on request. Catamarans can feel more stable at anchor, but every vessel still moves in open water.

There is no universal Cancún charter package. Each product page controls the confirmed rate, guest count, marina fee and inclusions.
Never assume that every yacht includes the same service.
Captain and crew are included in the private use of the yacht. Beyond that, the package varies. Current ILWYV listings commonly include water, soft drinks, beer, ice, Bluetooth sound and snorkelling equipment. Some yachts also include towels, floats, paddleboards or other non motorised water equipment.
Food, chef service, premium open bar, private transport, decorations, photography and video are normally requested separately. Fishing equipment is included on some yachts and optional on others. Ask for every requested extra to appear in writing before the charter.
Fuel is tied to the agreed operating area. A request to extend the route does not automatically form part of the base price. The captain, duration and marina operation determine what can be completed safely.

Motor yachts and catamarans create different days. Neither format is automatically better for every group.
Use the number of hours to decide how ambitious the route should be.
Four hours. This works best for cruising near Cancún, photographs, music and a short anchor or swim stop when conditions permit. Trying to force a full Isla Mujeres day into a short charter can leave little time to enjoy the yacht.
Six hours. This is a practical choice for many Isla Mujeres private yacht routes. It gives the captain more flexibility for the crossing, anchoring and water time without taking the entire day.
Eight hours. Choose this when Playa Norte, a longer lunch, celebration setup or slower return matters. More time improves flexibility, but it does not guarantee a specific stop.
Cozumel and Holbox should not be presented as standard day routes from a Cancún marina. How much does a private yacht cost in Cancún?
It depends on the yacht, duration, included guests and extras. At the time of this update, four hour ILWYV examples ranged from MXN 21,000 for ATM 45ft to MXN 75,000 for Addicted 70ft, before separate marina fees and extras.
What is the minimum charter duration?
Many Cancún yachts offer four, six and eight hour packages. Custom and overnight requests depend on the vessel and must be confirmed separately.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Many yachts allow additional food and drinks, subject to marina and operator rules. Confirm restrictions before boarding and avoid glass or equipment the yacht has not approved.
Can the route to Isla Mujeres be guaranteed?
No. The preferred route is coordinated in advance, but weather, duration, port operation and captain approval determine the final route.
How far ahead should we book?
Book as soon as the date and guest count are firm when you need a specific yacht. Holiday periods and weekends narrow availability faster. Last minute requests can work, but should not be treated as guaranteed.
